Point and Shoot in 2022 – it’s just camera!

You didn’t know? Nobody uses a phone camera to take photos anymore. Point and shoot is now retro. Only boomers use a smartphone for photos these days. Some people are forgoing a smartphone altogether.

Finding film – old school, actual photo film – at the dump, triggered this whole documenting things at the dump project. Both film and older digital cameras have the ability to communicate a time or nostalgia through the way the light is captured.

One of my first good point and shoot camera finds was a Canon Powershot ELPH180.

Truthfully, The daylight shots aren’t too bad. Any shots taken past dusk or in a dark room are horrible- unless blurry, streaky, pixelated shots are your aesthetic.

The Canon PowerShot ELPH 180 is one hefty point and shoot at 20 Mega Pixels. Saving your memories to your phone and sharing immediately cheapens the moment. Sharing a shot with your IRL friends at the time of the shot – priceless. Look at this tiny 5cm x 5cm screen. No zits or no wrinkles when you look at pics on your point and shoot.
